DARKANE Attend 'The Tonight Show With Jay Leno' Taping
December 5, 2005DARKANE guitarist Christofer Malmström has posted the following tour reports on the band's official web site:
"Yes, tonight we played the 32nd show of the U.S. tour here in Seattle, WA and tomorrow we'll end the tour in Vancouver where I will finally meet the drummer of my solo project NON-HUMAN LEVEL, Ryan van Poederooyen.
"OK, so we crashed into Seattle... sorry, ...no, we actually crashed into Seattle this morning. Everybody was sleeping when we suddenly woke up by the bus shaking and braking heavily. I thought it would flip over, but in the last second everything was still. All curtains of the bunks opened and a lot of surprised metalheads stuck out their heads. It turned out we had crashed into another car on the freeway right outside Seattle. It was kind of scary, but no one was seriously hurt, I think. After an hour or so, we could leave and head for downtown Seattle, which I think is a very nice city!
"It's kind of sad that the tour will be over, but we can't deny that we are missing our loved ones back home! The tour will be a memory that will stick to our hearts forever though.
"After Vegas (where Peter [Wildoer, drums] wrote the last report) we headed for Scottsdale, AZ, and then we played San Diego, CA. We even had a few hours to cross the border to Mexico and check out Tijuana for a while before it was time to head for the venue.
"We had three days in L.A. First we played Anaheim and I got to shake hands with BLACK SABBATH's Bill Ward. The second day we were at a taping of a Jay Leno show in Burbank. We got front row seats and when Mr. Leno entered he got right to the front of the stage and shook all DARKANE members hands. It was fun to see an actual taping of a show like that which can be seen in Sweden too. Later that night we checked into Beverly Hilton and watched the episode and realized that our heads was in the picture. If you for some reason can check back on the shows it was the one with Alanis Morisette, Rosanne Barr and Margeritha Perrin.
"The next day we played House of Blues in Hollywood. I got to meet Steve Vai since he was there looking for Devin Townsend and STRAPPING YOUNG LAD. Steve is a huge influence for me and it was cool to meet him.
"Then we left Sunny California to enter Rainy California and San Francisco. The venue was small but sweaty! After that we played Orangevale and Portland, OR last night. The shows have been alike from night to night I would say. The crowd is great! We've been selling our merch by ourselves and got to talk to a lot of cool fans which we have enjoyed a lot!
"Finally I would like to thank the bands, SOILWORK, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD and FEAR FACTORY and the awesome crew that was on this tour! We've had a blast and everybody has been super cool!!!! Thank you, and hopefully we can do this some time again! =) Also, thanks to all the fans who showed up early and made us feel VERY welcome to North America! You all rule!!!!"
DARKANE are touring in support of their fourth album, "Layers of Lies", available now on Nuclear Blast Records. It is the follow-up to the band's third studio CD, "Expanding Senses", which was released in 2002.
